MATA (Mega Aero Training Academy), a member of the Safomar Group, was established in January 2011 for the purpose of training students to fill the skills gap in the aviation industry. In recent years, the Academy has experienced an influx of students from a variety of Sub Saharan Countries such as Nigeria, Mozambique, Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Ghana all signing up for training in the Aviation Maintenance field.  The demand for professionally trained Aviation Technical staff in these areas is far outstripping the numbers available and this demand is growing year on year with the growth of the African Aviation Industry.

Mega Aero Training Academy (MATA)’s exceptionally high level of theoretical and practical training conducted at our state of the art training facilities based at O R Tambo International Airport is well acknowledged by the Aviation industry as a whole both in South Africa and outside of the borders.  This combined with the lack of accredited training facilities in sub-Saharan countries; Mega Aero Training Academy (MATA) is fast becoming the preferred Aviation Training Academy for Private Students, Regional Air Wing Forces, Aircraft Maintenance Organisations (AMO)’s and Airlines alike.

The African Aviation industry as a whole has grown by 13% in the past year and in the next 10 years an overall growth rate of 7.5% is expected and with many African Airlines modernising their fleet this is placing more pressure on the industry to find and train the right candidates for positions within the Aircraft Maintenance field.  Mega Aero Training Academy (MATA) currently has links with Aviation facilities in Namibia, Nigeria, Botswana, Ghana and Mozambique enabling these countries the relationships and access to accredited training facilities so desperately needed in order to produce qualified capable candidates to meet the ever growing demands of the African Aviation Industry.
