Meet women-leaders making their mark in Engineering, Infrastructure and Innovation – Western Cape

The "It's DUE " – Develop, Unite and Empower Women & Leadership conference focussing on the fields of Engineering, Infrastructure and Innovation will be taking place at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West on February 22 & 23, 2023. The two day conference will include women-only industry leaders.
The organisers, 100% Women owned company, Pinpoint Stewards has one goal in mind, to bring like-minded women together to do business and expand their visibility through equal reporting of their exceptional skills within these sectors. “Recently more women are making their mark in male populated sectors” Says Co-Owner, Ankia Roux “and the conference will not only ensure that strategies are formed to equip and include more women in these sectors, but share the opportunities available for women to lead.”
WiMSA, Board Member, Megan Jarvis will be opening the conference on day two of the conference as industry expert. GRINAKER- LTA, Executive Director Commercial, Tracey B Smith will be encouraging both government and the private sector to join forces in introducing programmes to encourage more women to enter the field of STEM. With this in mind, DBSA, Head – Group Risk, Zukiswa Sithole will be focusing on DBSA’s gender mainstreaming programme and the role gender mainstreaming plays in infrastructure for women.
Speaking on breaking the bias and addressing the misperceptions that deters women from considering and staying in an engineering career is, Corrosion Engineer and Acting Section Manager Materials Engineering, Masego Mosupye for ARMSCOR DOCKYARD. Executive: Ease of Doing Business, FREEPORT SALDANHA IDZ, Benedicta Durcan will discuss straddling engineering, infrastructure and innovation - the many hats women can wear. Director ICT, Faustina Hagan, DEPARTMENT OF COGTA – NWPG will look at ways to optimizing ICT governance for service delivery improvement in the workplace.
A dual presentation, focussing on 8 new leadership rules for women will be facilitated by Dr Annamaré Wolmarans, Manager: Information Management, EXXARO RESOURCES and Hulisani Mabe, Executive Director, KRYPTON MINING.
Other speaker companies include: Department Public Works & Infrastructure, Square Kilometre Array Organisation, Exxaro, MPAMOT, PM Aviation and Transnet Freight Rail.
Delegates can also look forward to a networking wine tasting by De Grendel wines taking the ladies on a sensorial journey where they will give them something that will relate to each wine, may it be in smell, texture or taste. The conversation will focus on talking points around wine in a social environment while building their network.
Giving back: The conference will once again support, the SURVIVOR EXIT FOUNDATION in their fight against Gender Based Violence and sexual exploitation - a percentage of the profits from the conference will be donated to their cause.
