The Malawi government is inviting bids for the construction of a cancer treatment centre at Kamuzu Central Hospital, in Lilongwe, a referral hospital that caters for the country’s central region.

The project will be financed using the proceeds of a loan that Malawi has obtained from the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC, Fund for International Development.

“Eligible international contractors are those registered in the unlimited category in their respective countries,” says Malawi’s Ministry of Health.

Bid documents are obtainable on payment of a nonrefundable fee of MK50 000 (about $70), or its equivalent, in a freely convertible currency. The bidding documents may also be sent to the bidder by courier for an additional amount equivalent to $50.

The deadline for submitting bids is November 16. Bid documents must be accompanied by a bid security of 1% of the total bid price.
