The Malawi government is inviting bids from eligible African and Arab companies for the construction of a district hospital in the southern district of Phalombe.

The Southern African country’s Ministry of Health states that the project will be financed using the proceeds of loans from the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa and the Saudi Fund for Development.

“Bidding will be conducted in accordance with the international open tendering procedures contained in the public procurement law and regulations of Malawi and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries,” the Ministry of Health says.

Further information may be obtained from Norman & Dawbarn Chartered Architects in the capital city, Lilongwe, or from the Ministry of Health at a nonrefundable fee of $300.

The deadline for the submission of bids is October 22. The bids must be accompanied by a bid security of 1% of the total bid price in the currency of the bid.

States the Ministry: “There is no preference for domestic bidders, and the employers do not bind themselves to accept the lowest or any bid, but reserve the right to exercise choice in accordance with what they consider to be in their best interests.”
