When the Mogalakwena Municipality commenced the storm water pipe upgrading project at Mokopane Ext 20 in Mahwelereng, Limpopo in June 2015, they found that the original storm water pipes installed in the 1960’s were redundant and no longer of a sufficient size to accommodate the waste needs of the local community.  Bashitwa Construction, who were awarded this project partnered with Rocla, a leading South African pre-cast concrete pipe specialist to replace these old pipes with new, larger pre-cast concrete pipes which offer a greater longevity.

Bashitwa Construction, Owner, Solly Lekalakala commented “It was no surprise that larger pre-cast storm water pipes would be required considering the age of the previously laid pipes. I have partnered with Rocla before and found their technical support valuable in addition to their product quality and reliable delivery.”

“We ordered 220 Rocla 900mm, 75D interlocking joint pipes which will eliminate future blockages, spillage and overflows of waste and waste water from the Mokopane Ext 20 area. As time was critical on this project, Rocla manufactured these specifically sized pipes to meet not only our size requirement but our deadline as well. We were not disappointed.” said Lekalakala.

“We have extensive experience in storm water pipe supply due to the numerous infrastructural projects that Rocla has been involved with, and we were pleased to have been chosen to partner with Bashitwa Construction on this million rand community project upgrade in Limpopo. Whilst there were no major challenges on this project our ability to manufacture the required storm water pipes to meet their deadline was tight, but we did succeed and the project was completed on schedule in October 2015” commented Robert Hill, Sales Consultant for Rocla in Limpopo.
