Project Description
The Mafraq I project is one of four solar schemes awarded in the second round of the country’s solar independent power producer initiative, which aims to develop 600 MW of renewable energy by 2020.

The 50 MW solar PV plant is expected to reduce Jordan’s carbon footprint by displacing more than 80 000 t/y of carbon dioxide, the equivalent of removing 17 000 cars from the country’s roads.

Jobs to Be Created
The project will create 250 jobs at the peak of construction.

$76-million.

Duration
Mafraq I is expected to be connected to the grid in the second quarter of 2018.

The project reached financial close in April this year.
