Madhya Pradesh solar photovoltaic plant project, India
Name and Location
Madhya Pradesh solar photovoltaic (PV) plant project, India.
Client
Fortum Corporation.
Project Description
The project involves the construction of a greenfield solar PV plant in Madhya Pradesh, India.
The new plant is the first greenfield solar project commissioned under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission Phase II.
The power plant will operate under a power purchase agreement of 25 years signed by Fortum with the Solar Energy Corporation of India.
The 10 MW alternating current solar plant will offset more than 18 000 t/y of carbon dioxide emissions equivalent. It will span an estimated 28 ha in Kapeli, in the district of Ujjain.
Fortum has adopted a thin-film cadmium telluride technology.
More than 125 000 modules will be mounted on fixed tilted structures and 15 central inverters, which allows for better control of the carbon footprint, water use and energy payback time.
