Total performance lubricant manufacturer Bel-Ray provides ‘superior’ lubrication for Type 2 open gear systems used in industrial equipment, such as cement kilns, mills and dryers.

The Clear Gear Lubricant with its high viscosity is proven to reduce consumption, vibration and the temperature of machinery.

The product is engineered to operate in the full fluid film or hydrodynamic mode of lubrication that is especially suited to improve gear tooth protection. The company explains that the fluid easily drains from the open gear shroud and will not accumulate or harden in tooth roots. Clear Gear is a completely transparent product that ensures easy dynamic and static gear tooth inspections and offers a clean appearance.

As a friction modified lubricant, Clear Gear reduces energy consumption and operating temperature.

Clear Gear is available globally in five viscosity grades namely light, medium, standard, heavy and extra heavy.

Clear Gear Lubricant light, medium, heavy and extra heavy are approved by industrial machinery company Metso Minerals for intermittent spray lubrication of open gears and grades medium and heavy are approved by Finnish engineering company Outotec. Clear Gear Lubricant exceeds American National Standard Institute (ANSI) Gear Lubrication (98ANSI/AGMA) 9005-E02 Specification Annex D, for minimum viscosity recommendation for open gearing – intermittent lubricant application.

Bel-Ray serves the lubrication needs of powersports, and industrial and mining customers globally. Bel-Ray’s powersports line, manufactured in the US, delivers lubricants and service products to motorcycle and recreational vehicle enthusiasts globally.

Other Products

The Molylube Mill Gear Compound from Bel-Ray, commonly known as Molylube SF 100 Mill, is a high viscosity open gear lube designed for shovel dipper sticks, and is also used in kilns and mills. This product forms a strong tenacious paste-like film, providing maximum protection in the load zone while flowing well and draining freely from gear shrouds, greatly reducing consumption.

The Molylube contains a volatile solvent that ensures fluidity during application and contains no heavy metal carcinogens or chlorinated solvents. It meets ANSI/AGMA 9005-EO2 standards as well as the minimum viscosity recommendations for open gearing intermittent lubricant application and for gravity feed or forced drip lubrication of open gears.

The Molylube Gear Tac Tacky Open Gear Lubricant, commonly known as Molylube Gear Tac, is an open gear lubricant formulated for dragline, shovel and process open gears. Molylube Gear Tac Tacky Open Gear Lubricant is formulated with a high viscosity paraffinic base oil, polymers, molybdenum disulfide, or moly, and graphite lubricating solids, and Extreme Pressure additives.

It is fortified with a water displacing additive for shovel applications exposed to rain, snow and ice. Molylube Gear Tac Tacky Open Gear Lubricant is well suited for open gear use in typical and severe mining and industrial applications that include grinding mills, pelletisers, agglomerators, dryers and kilns.
