A glare-free bollard which is designed aesthetically to create a soft yet direct illumination, is said to provide an effective lighting solution for urban spaces such as pedestrian areas, parks, walkways, car parks and bike paths.

BEKA Schréder recently launched its SEMITA light-emitting diode (LED) bollard, which consists of a head assembly and a pole base assembly, available either in aluminium or corrosion-free glass filament wound glass fibre reinforced pole, or GRP.

The company highlights the following advantages of the bollard:

  • Designed and manufactured in South Africa, ensuring a robust design to withstand local conditions and harsh environments
  • Ambient temperature, or Ta, of up to 45 °C
  • Various colour combinations available
  • Wall-mount versions complement the range
  • Highly efficient LED light source
  • Energy saving and low maintenance applications
  • Robust and vandal resistant
  • Easy to install
  • Marine grade high-pressure die-cast aluminium head (EN 1706 AC-44300) sealed unit with IP 66 rated gear and optical compartment
  • Surge protection of 10 kV/10 kA (optional)
  • Head sealed from pole base
  • Corrosion-resistant GRP pole (optional)
  • 3 year warranty (dependent on certain terms and conditions)

The decorative wall-mount version has a matching bulkhead option, offering further aesthetic enhancements to an environment.
