Local Volkswagen plant exports top 100 000 units

Volkswagen Group South Africa (SA) has celebrated the export of its 100 000th new generation Polo from its Uitenhage plant, in the Eastern Cape, in February.

The Polo has scooped several international awards since its introduction to the market in 2009, including European and World Car of the Year.

Volkswagen Group SA started the export of the Polo to right-hand drive countries around the world towards the end of 2009.

The vehicle’s key markets are the UK, Ireland, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Cyprus and Malta.
