New COO for data management company
Local data management and security company M2TD announced the appointment earlier this month of new COO Melusi Gumbi, who joins the company from local information and communication technology (ICT) service provider Khauleza IT Solutions, where he was the ICT operations executive.
M2TD provides a range of data services that include network, storage, security, analysis and integration. Its strategic objective is to build on its established success by adding value for its clients, shareholders and employees.
“This is where Melusi Gumbi has such an important role to play,” asserts M2TD CEO David Matshane. “He will be an essential part of the team that takes the company forward in today’s highly competitive environment.”
Gumbi will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the business, which, in addition to all the standard operational functions, will include management of departments such as security, networks, human relations, internal information technology, storage, sales and marketing.
M2TD trades in a high-tech sector and it will, therefore, be important for the company to “nurture and develop” its workforce and promote a culture of innovation within its ranks, he adds. “This means that I will not only oversee all key operational functions but also . . . be closely involved in the development of organisational policy and strategy.”
Gumbi has held several management positions at companies such as Transnet, Eskom, Arivia.kom and T-Systems South Africa, as well as at the City of Tshwane.
“I am very excited to be joining M2TD, especially as the company is gaining traction and recognition in the local data management industry so quickly,” he comments.
He adds that M2TD will continue to focus on providing innovative data management solutions, delivering excellent customer service, upholding a high level of ethics and building its brand.
