The yearly Africa Oil & Gas Summit 2015, which is taking place this year on September 8 and 9 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, will focus on liquefied natural gas (LNG) as an upcoming energy resource.

Owing to gas’s versatility, and developments being made in LNG, gas is becoming a major topic of discussion in the energy industry, says the UK-based organiser of the Africa Oil & Gas Summit, Oliver Kinross.

Gas exploration and production will, therefore, feature heavily within the senior-level conference and exhibition.

The Africa Oil & Gas Summit provides a unique platform for hundreds of African oil and gas professionals to discuss the latest developments and opportunities, embrace innovative solutions, and investigate fresh ideas and best-in-class strategies to improve on overall business performance and investment.

It is a major opportunity for oil and gas stakeholders to update themselves on the latest trends in the oil and gas industry, with more than 60 high-level speakers that will be taking part in more than 30 conferences during the two-day event. There will also be eight free-to-attend workshops.

Owing to Africa Oil & Gas Summit’s strong selection of upstream gas role-players, visitors will have the opportunity to have discussions with opinion leaders and senior-level stakeholders from the biggest companies in the global oil and gas sector in a relaxed and constructive atmosphere.

“It is an excellent way to meet with the most influential actors of the industry and to target audiences. The conferences and the networking session are reserved for highly motivated people and the most influential stakeholders of the industry, ensuring the high-level business discussions and the best quality of the summit,” says Oliver Kinross MD Neil Mckenzie.

Hot Topics
The Africa Oil & Gas Summit will feature updates from various African governments, including the relevant government ministries of countries across Africa.

“In-depth discussions on mergers and acquisitions, as well as bidding and rounds of licensing forecasts will also be at the heart of the summit,” he adds.

The event is a platform that allows for the development of industry-changing discussions and partnerships. Delegates will learn of the key opportunities and challenges facing Africa during a prolonged period of fluctuating oil and gas prices. This insight will have a direct impact on the current and future strategies of both nations and companies.

Further, case studies from national and international oil companies from across the continent will also help highlight the latest challenges in finance and oil pricing.

“The current oil and gas context is changing, owing to new technologies in onshore and offshore drilling techniques and operations. Consequently, laws and regulatory requirements are especially important,” says Mckenzie.

What to Expect
Each Africa Oil & Gas Summit is intrinsically unique, in that the conference focuses on the latest trends and the most accurate predictions for the future.

“These contextual components regularly change and so do our events, to ensure that we remain relevant to our audience. Besides, we aim to refresh our database for every event to have a chance to welcome the most interested and interesting stakeholders in the industry,” he says.

Nonetheless, the 2015 Africa Oil & Gas Summit will be more comprehensive than previous summits, as several countries’ ministry representatives who never had the chance to take part in the previous summits have confirmed their presence at this year’s event. “Therefore, the political scope of the Africa Oil & Gas Summit will be significantly increased in Africa. For instance, it is the first time that Benin, Togo and Gabon will honour us with their presence,” says Mckenzie.

Further, this year’s event will feature over 50 international exhibitors, showcasing the latest products, technologies and solutions for the oil and gas sector.
