Project Description
The Libra field contains an estimated recoverable reserves of 8-million barrels to 12-million barrels.
The project involves the development of a megafield, which covers 1 550 km2 in water depths of 2 000 m and could require as many as 12 floating, production, storage and offloading vessels to develop.
The reservoir depth is about 3 500 m below the sea floor.
Total gross peak oil production could reach 1.4-million barrels a day.

Technip has been awarded a contract to supply the first flexible pipes for the presalt project.
The project includes the supply of flexible pipes for the Libra extended well test field. This is one of the first steps of the Libra field development.
This contract covers the supply of high-end flexible pipes, including 8" oil-production, 6" service and 6" gas-injection flexible pipes. Designed to produce the first Libra field oil, the 8" pipes are the first oil production pipes to be installed in a presalt area. Technip’s operating centre in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will handle project management and engineering. The highly technological flexible pipes will be produced at Technip’s manufacturing sites in Vitoria and Acu, in Brazil. Delivery is scheduled to start in the second half of 2016.
