Lesedi Nuclear Services Nelson Mandela Day
This article has been supplied as a media statement and is not written by Creamer Media. It may be available only for a limited time on this website.
To celebrate Nelson Mandela day, Lesedi staff will be devoting their time and efforts to provide warm meals to more than 500 poverty stricken residents in the communities of Atlantis and Joe Slovo Park in the Western Cape.
Lesedi believes it is important to give back to disadvantaged communities close to the company’s operations in the Western Cape. Lesedi employees pledged their time to be involved on this day of service as the world remembers Nelson Mandela.
Over the years, Lesedi has developed a long term sustainable relationship with the Orion Organisation in Atlantis. Orion has grown as a model of hope to as many as 3000 disabled individuals who have passed through their doors since its inception.
Joe Slovo Park is a mixture of fixed houses and shacks next to Montague Gardens in Milnerton. General living conditions are very poor and children, women and the elderly are particularly vulnerable. The community is a mirror image of the inequalities still prevalent in South African society. “We believe that a company must contribute actively to the creation and maintenance of an economic system in which it can flourish.
Corporate Social Investment entails the investment of Lesedi Nuclear Services skills and allocated financial resources in various disadvantaged communities within the areas which the company’s facilities operate. This day aims to inspire a ripple of good deeds, as we take steps towards the aim of positive transformation” said Shane Pereira, Business Development Executive for Lesedi.
