New approaches, best practice and innovative technologies will come under discussion at the jam-packed Exhibitor Forum at analytica Lab Africa in Midrand next week.

analytica Lab Africa, the only trade show in South Africa for the laboratory technology, analysis, biotechnology and diagnostics sectors, returns to Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand from 5 – 7 July, after a four-year hiatus due to Covid-19 lockdowns. The event features an extensive exhibition area, co-located with IFAT Africa, as well as a forum, workshops and demos.

Organisers Messe Muenchen India and Messe München GmbH, this week unveiled the analytica Lab Africa 2023 Exhibitor Forum programme.

In the Forum Area, international and local experts will deep dive into key issues such as harmonising lab water purity for optimised results, avoiding the risks associated with hazardous materials, reducing lab waste, safe storage of Lithium-Ion batteries, and the importance of protecting data.

Visitors will also discover revolutionary approaches to diagnostic testing in Africa; new tools for analysis; novel digital solutions for the lab; a novel method for Salmonella serotyping; the effects of centrifugal forces on samples; a safe and economical alternative to ultra filtration systems; in-house prepared water as an alternative to HPLC-Grade water; how to achieve faster food analysis results; and how to unlock the mysteries of reference standards.

Speakers will outline XRF Best Operating Practices BOP using the ZSX Primus IV; Modern vacuum supply by Vacuupure & Vacuu-Lan Networks; facility and equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and the general calibration of laboratory equipment; automation solutions; how to unleash the power of Ion Chromatography with more Metrohm detectors; why should you buy refurbished chromatography instruments; the importance of sample collection and transport;  real time, continuous, label-free in vitro cell based assays; and a world first coupling of a TGA to a GCxGC-MS platform using the Twister.

analytica Lab Africa will also host Quality First workshops each day, covering important issues such as the risks involved in using sub-optimal equipment, the value of quality equipment, ensuring traceability of laboratory measurement results, and assessing whether staff are trained, competent or both.

With over 6,000 visitors expected and hundreds of brands on show, the major enterprises participating in analytica Lab Africa this year include Silver Sponsor Lasec, showcasing its cutting-edge biotechnology and general scientific products from over 240 leading international brands.
