TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Canadian vanadium producer Largo Resources has renamed its flagship Maracas project The Vanadio de Maracas Menchen Mine, in honour of Largo's president of Brazilian operations, Kurt Menchen, who the company said was instrumental in driving the project’s success.

The processing facility at the project was also named The Ford Facility to recognise the significant contribution of Largo's senior VP and technical director of Brazilian operations, Les Ford.

Further, the The Gulcari ‘A’ deposit was renamed The Campbell Pit to recognise the contribution of Largo's VP of exploration Andy Campbell.

"I think it is only appropriate, following the announcement of first production, to [highlight] the contributions of these three members of our technical team who have been fundamental to the success of Largo Resources,” president and CEO Mark Brennan said in a statement on Monday.

Largo had earlier this month produced the first vanadium product at the Maracas project and output was steadily ramping up to the project's Phase 1 nameplate capacity of 9 600 t by the twelfth month of operation.
