Shareholders of the company comprise KSB Pumps and Compo Physic Trade, with 85% plus one share and 15% plus one share respectively. Operations include full service solutions for fluid transfer applications, with sales, service and maintenance tailored to individual customers’ requirements. The manufacturing and sales facility in Germiston, east of Johannesburg, occupies a 38383nm² site, 36740bm² of which is under cover.

This is supported by sales and service centres in Cape Town, Durban, Nelspruit, Port Elizabeth, Secunda, Vereeniging, Richards Bay and Rustenburg. Resident offices in Ghana and Kenya, catering for West Africa, East Africa and Central Africa, extend the company’s reach well into Africa. The company has specific focus areas across a wide range of industries, with specialist units dedicated to providing technologically advanced products to suit industry-specific requirements. These are backed up by dedicated technical services and support.

Says a spokesperson for the 500-employee company, “With a focus on the energy sector, KSB Pumps and Valves has also concentrated efforts on providing services to our power stations and related operations and has established a dedicated valve centre comprising a fully fitted workshop capable of maintaining and repairing large-scale high-pressure steam valves according to all local standards and requirements.

“We are playing an important role in keeping the lights on in South Africa with the provision of valves services that enables our hard-working power stations to keep up with ever-rising demands. To do this, we have allocated a part of our valve workshop to the pressure-testing area, which consists of two high-pressure test benches where we can perform both shell and seat pressure tests on high-pressure steam valves.

“We have also fitted the workshop with a rotating lapping table, an engineering lathe and other machinery to ensure a high quality repair process. Similarly, we have specialised services for petrochemical, mining and all other sectors where specialist products and technical services are required.”
