Name and Location
Kribi II power plant expansion project, Cameroon.

Client
The project will be developed, designed, constructed and operated by Kribi Power Development Company, a subsidiary of Globeleq Africa, under a 20-year build, own, operate, transfer arrangement. It will sell its power to Eneo, the privatised electricity transmission and distribution company.

Project Description
The proposed project entails the extension of the existing Kribi I power plant, which uses 13 dual-fuel gas-fired engines.

Kribi II will involve the installation of an additional seven 17.9 MW natural gas-fired reciprocating engines. The project’s 1.1 ha footprint will be located within the fenced 16 ha premises of Kribi I.

The project will add 125 MW of gross power generation capacity to Kribi I, delivering a total net electricity generation capacity of 330 MW. The additional electricity generated will be supplied to State-owned company Eneo Cameroon using the existing transmission line built for Kribi I.

Gas will be supplied from the Sanaga South gasfield, jointly operated by Perenco and Cameroon’s national petroleum company, SNH. As the gas production and delivery facilities for Kribi I were designed to supply sufficient gas for the proposed expansion, no expansion of these facilities will be required. A new warehouse and small control building will also be built for the operation of the new plant.

Value
The project is estimated at €150-million.

Duration
Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2015, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2016.
