TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Explorer Kennady Diamonds has appointed industry veteran Dr Rory Moore as its new president and CEO effective May 1, to replace Patrick Evans, who had held the positions since the company’s spin-out in 2012 from project-developing parent Mountain Province Diamonds.

Kennady chairperson Jonathan Comerford explained Wednesday that the move was the next key step in the process to separate governance between the two companies, having already appointed two new independent directors to this end.

"The methodical advancement of the project has brought Kennady to an advanced stage now requiring the time and attention of a dedicated CEO," Comerford commented, noting that Evans would remain as the president and CEO of Mountain Province.

Moore would bring to Kennady more than 30 years of diamond experience, having held a number of positions in the industry, including as CEO of the Mineral Services Group of Companies, president and CEO of Canabrava Diamond Corp and manager of diamond exploration for BHP Minerals. Moore held a PhD in Geochemistry from the University of Cape Town and was a registered professional geoscientist in British Columbia.

Comerford thanked Evans for his critical contributions to Kennady over the past four years that had resulted in the discovery of four kimberlite pipes within the Kelvin – Faraday corridor, in the Northwest Territories.

Kennady had awarded Moore stock options to buy up to 200 000 common shares of its capital stock at a price of $3.30 a share, exercisable for ten years.
