JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed gold development company Katoro Gold has submitted a mining licence application to Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals for the Imweru project, the company announced on Thursday.

Rapid progress on the Tanzania-based Imweru resource development programme, combined with the prior relatively advanced development status of the Imweru project, have enabled the company to submit its mining licence three months ahead of schedule.

"The submission of the mining license for the future Imweru gold mine is a major milestone for the project. Similarly, the completion of laboratory analyses enables both the mineral resource update, pit optimisation and mine design to progress at pace as Katoro continues to deliver milestones for the development of the Imweru project ahead of schedule and within budget,” said chairperson Louis Coetzee in a statement.
