Location
The plants are both located in the Karoo Hoogland district, in South Africa’s Northern Cape province.

Project Owner/s
Enel Green Power RSA (EGP RSA), a subsidiary of Enel Green Power.

Project Description
Karusa and Soetwater wind farms will have a capacity of 140 MW each.

Each farm is expected to generate more than 585 GWh/y, avoiding the emission of about 611 000 t/y of carbon dioxide into the
atmosphere.

The wind farms will be supported by a 20-year power supply agreement with the South African energy utility Eskom, in line with the South African government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme.

Potential Job Creation
EGP RSA will employ local staff and hire local contractors during the construction process to promote meaningful socioeconomic and enterprise development.

Capital Expenditure
Karusa and Soetwater will involve an investment of more than €200-million each.

Planned Start/End Date
Construction of the projects started in November 2019 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
