Government investment vehicle InvestSA has won the Global Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) Award, which recognises best practice in IPAs in forging partnerships to promote foreign direct investment that contributes to sustainable development.

It was presented the award at the World Investment Forum and the fourteenth United Nations Conference on Trade and Development conference, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The award recognised the efforts of InvestSA to provide focused support in attracting investment projects in the green economy and sustainable development.

InvestSA partnered with a number of government departments, agencies, regulatory bodies, banks, investors, industry associations and communities to facilitate investments in this sector.

Trade and Industry Minister Dr Rob Davies said the establishment of InvestSA had enhanced intergovernmental coordination and facilitation to fast-track, unblock and reduce red tape.

“Investors recognise South Africa as a regional hub and gateway into the African continent,” he added in a statement issued on Tuesday.

InvestSA is supported by an inter-Ministerial committee on investment.
