ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems  (0.24 MB)

Company Announcement - ASSA Abloy Entrance Systems, established in Johannesburg, Gauteng, in 2003, is a leading provider of door opening solutions across the African continent. The company has successfully installed a wide range of door solutions in 14 African countries outside South Africa to meet the continent’s pedestrian entrance requirements in a wide variety of markets including the health, commercial and retail sectors.

The company installed a sliding door system for its first customer outside South Africa, Botswana Barclays Bank, in 2007 which ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems Managing Director, André Aiton confirms is still successfully operating today. ASSA Abloy Entrance Systems has since completed projects in Angola, DRC Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Maputo, Namibia, Nigeria, South Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania and Uganda.

According to Aiton, Africa presents a huge market for the supply of secure, comfortable, customer-friendly, reliable and attractive door opening systems to facilities such as medical clinics, shopping centres, malls, banks, airports, hotels, fast food chains and casinos. “The door solutions required in the rest of Africa are very similar to the South African market and include mostly sliders and swing door mechanisms. We have also seen a general increase in demand for revolving door operators from various African countries due to the numerous cost saving and environmental benefits offered by these systems.”

Aiton points out that the continent is not without its own unique challenges but he adds that ASSA Abloy Entrance Systems has surmounted these challenges. “There are two main factors that contribute to our success in Africa, namely our six ASSA Abloy branches strategically located in East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania), West Africa (Nigeria and Ghana), central Africa (Uganda) and southern Africa (Zimbabwe) coupled with the proven world-class quality of our entrance systems. We work in close cooperation with our colleagues at these branches who are familiar with the local cultures and conditions.

They provide our Johannesburg Company with the support and capabilities necessary to ensure that all our cross border projects are completed successfully. Paramount to local support in the regions is the quality of our products. All our equipment is extensively tested to EU–standards and meet all local standards for automatic doors with a strong emphasis on safety.” Aiton adds that test certificates are available on all products supplied into the market. Our products hold significant energy saving benefits, a point that we drive home. We are also registered with the green council in the RSA and provide products to complement green building designs,” says Aiton.

Some countries in Africa are growing at twice South Africa’s GDP and the future in Africa is a bright one. Pedestrian entrance opportunities are increasingly presenting themselves in the health, retail, commercial and transport sector which is showing steady growth due to some stable governments and investor confidence. Aiton says that health is currently the biggest sector in Africa due to HIV and Malaria as well as unfortunate epidemics like Ebola. “Our Besam Hermatic lead lined doors offer the ideal entrance solution for isolation requirements at medical facilities including doors to theatres, Hi-Tech labs and isolation wards,” concludes Aiton.

ASSA ABLOY, South Africa Pty Ltd, part of the international Swedish giant, ASSA ABLOY, is a global leading specialist in the manufacture and supply of secure, safe and convenient door opening systems and solutions to meet a wide range of applications. ASSA ABLOY, South Africa combines local knowledge with global expertise and product innovation.
