US technology group GE officially opened its R500-million Africa Innovation Centre, in Johannesburg, earlier this month. The centre will enable the group to work collaboratively with customers and governments in the region on home-grown solutions to Africa’s many infrastructure and healthcare challenges. Besides being a ‘work space’ for innovation, the centre is also fully green-building-accredited – a fact arguably epitomised by the strikingly green and innovative backdrop of the building’s reception area.
