The Ingeteam inverters will account for 38% of the total power awarded in the second round of tenders for PV plants organised by the South
African government.

In less than one year since Ingeteam first entered the South African market, this Spanish company has already achieved a record figure of 159 MW installed in PV plants in that country. The Ingeteam inverters were selected for 38% of the total power awarded (417 MW) in the second round of tenders for PV plants. South Africa has already awarded 1048 MW of the 1450 MW approved by the country's Department of Energy for
PV solar projects.

Although Ingeteam's South African subsidiary is basically dedicated to the sale of power converters for the renewable energy sector (photovoltaic and wind power), as well as the equipment operation and maintenance tasks, it will also operate in the areas of railway traction and the automation of the electricity grid. The subsidiary is located in Midrand, in the Gauteng Province, with offices, showroom and training facilities. The future prospects in South Africa are very good, given the fact that almost 3.7 GW in renewable energy projects are expected to be awarded over the next
three years. In the words of Jacob Düpper, the Manager of the South African subsidiary, "South Africa is currently a country of great opportunity for the
energy and industrial sectors. Given the fact that many different companies are now seriously interested in bringing their products into this emerging market, there is a need to offer a high-quality product at a competitive price, and this is just what Ingeteam is doing".

The Sishen Solar Facility is the latest project to be equipped with INGECON SUN inverters. This plant is to have an installed power output of 94 MWp (DC), to be delivered to the country's electricity grid thanks to the 78 INGECON® SUN PowerMax central inverters which Ingeteam is to supply. These inverters, each with a 1 MW rated power output, are housed in 40 foot Power Stations. Furthermore, Ingeteam is also to provide the Sishen plant with its INGECON EMS Plant Manager control system, responsible for ensuring compliance with all the requirements of the grid operator and with South African regulations. It is estimated that this PV plant, set to start delivering power to the grid at the end of July 2014, will generate 216 GWh during its first year of operation. The Sishen Solar Facility project is to be equipped with a total of almost 320,000 polycrystalline modules, covering 250 hectares in the province of Northern Cape.

This plant represents the consolidation of Ingeteam in South Africa, being the third plant in which Ingeteam has been involved in less than one year since its subsidiary started business. Taking the three South Africa PV plants together, the Ingeteam inverters have a total installed power output of 200 MWp (94 MWp at the Sishen plant, 96 MWp at the Jasper plant and 10 MWp at the PV plant at Upington airport). Ingeteam's other major project in South Africa is at the Jasper PV plant, the property of Iberdrola and the Group Five South African construction company. This plant, which is to have an installed power output capacity of 96 MWp, provided by 325,000 modules covering a surface area of 180 hectares, will produce sufficient electricity to supply 30,000 homes. The Ingeteam equipment is to be supplied inside 39 fully-equipped medium voltage shelters. The smallest of the three plants, to be constructed by the company Terni Energia SA, a South African subsidiary of the Italian Gruppo TerniEnergia, is to be located at Upington airport, in the province of Northern Cape.

This plant, which is set to generate 18.4 GWh per year, will avoid the annual emission of 9,910 tons of CO2. This airport is noted for having the longest runway in Africa and one of the longest in the world, with a length of 4,900 metres. The construction of this plant is set to commence in October 2013, and it is to be supplied with seven CON40 medium voltage 40 foot containers of the INGECON SUN Power Station brand, housing a total of thirteen inverters from the PowerMax family. To date, Ingeteam has supplied more than 3 GWp to its customers, confirming its position as one of the world's leading inverter manufacturers. Ingeteam Ingeteam is a market leader specialising in electrical engineering and in the development of frequency converters, motors, generators and control systems. The company primarily serves four key sectors: energy; industry; marine; and
rail traction. Its goal is to optimise energy consumption whilst seeking to maximise energy generating efficiency The company operates in four continents (Europe, America, Asia and Africa), employing more than 3,000 persons. In 2012, more than 7% of turnover was invested in R&D, the backbone of Ingeteam's business activity.
