Ingeteam has connected its first solar PV plant in Puerto Rico. The 500 kW power plant, built by WindMar Renewable Energy Inc, is also the first solar plant to have installed the transformer version of Ingeteam’s UL compliant central inverter INGECON SUN Power Max. Moreover, these PV solar inverters have been approved by the OGPe, the Puerto Rican certifications authority.

This photovoltaic plant, in operation since mid-January and located in the town of Aguada, is going to generate enough energy as to meet the yearly demands of 150 homes. Javier Pérez, Vice President of Ingeteam Inc, stated that “Puerto Rico represents a great opportunity for us. It has a strong solar potential and we believe that national authorities will continue supporting and promoting the construction of solar power plants, that will reduce the State’s energy dependence. For this reason, we hope that this project will be just the first one of a large series“.

With more than 3 GW of solar PV inverters supplied worldwide, Ingeteam has developed the new INGECON SUN Power Max U central inverters specifically for the North American market, in compliance with the UL-1741 standard. The transformer version of this inverter family, that has been installed in Puerto Rico, features maximum efficiency levels of 97.2%, 1000 Vdc, NEMA 3R protection ratings, as well as DC and AC disconnects. This central inverter model is supplied together with the transformer in a separated enclosure and it is available with an output power of up to 500 kW. The inverter model installed in Puerto Rico was the INGECON SUN 500 T U X480 Outdoor.
