The ICE-SA Division (Institution of Civil Engineers - SA Division) has launched the ICE-SA NEC Forum in an effort to improve both Project Management training and Enabling Better Infrastructure in South Africa.  A key objective is to support implementation of the NEC contract as intended, in a collaborative manner for the benefits to all involved.

The inaugural ICE-SA NEC Forum Event will take place on June 29, 2023, at 54 on Bath in Rosebank, Johannesburg from 12H30.  The event will be hybrid, allowing everyone to attend.

This first NEC Forum Event is sponsored by ECS Associates, providing guest speakers -Andrew Baird and Mile Sofijanic.

Andrew Baird, founder and former Chairman of ECS Associates, is one of NEC’s authors and has been a panel member for over 20 years. Andrew is acknowledged as the leading expert on NEC based procurement in Southern Africa.  He will be discussing NEC in South Africa over the last 30 years.

Mile Sofijanic, MD of ECS Associates, is an ICE accredited NEC Tutor ( NECReg). He will present the training on NEC Project Management Accreditation.

Alain Jacquet, ICE-SA Representative, will be discussing how ICE-SA can influence Infrastructure Policy from a technical perspective using the ICE, Enabling Better Infrastructure: 12 guiding principles for prioritising and planning infrastructure Report as a springboard.

Mbali Mbuli, an ICE-SA committee member, will be leading the discussion about creating the NEC Forum to improve project delivery in South Africa. The intention is for the forum to meet every 6 months.

This is a FREE event open to interested parties.  It hopes to add value to education/training of Project Managers and help deliver more successful engineering and construction projects in SA.

Please RSVP: communication@ice-sa.org.za, stating whether attendance will be in-person or on-line.
