‘Intelligence amplification’ solution provides real-time cybersecurity
NITHEN NAIDOO The system uses advanced mathematical algorithms, machine learning and predictive analytics to provide real-time intelligence to any size business
Data analytics company Snode will deploy in South Africa its ‘intelligence amplification’ cybersecurity system, which uses machine learning in conjunction with human expertise, predictive analytics and behavioural pattern analysis to provide real-time threat protection.
The system uses advanced mathematical algorithms, machine learning and predictive analytics to provide real-time intelligence for businesses of any size. The system provides insights into behavioural patterns that help to identify and combat cyberthreats before potential breaches may occur, says Snode CIO and cofounder Nithen Naidoo.
Cyberattacks frequently come from advanced and highly motivated, global crime syndicates. This necessitates a more intelligent line of defence, as traditional end-point and signature-based technologies are ineffective in dealing with the rapidly evolving threat landscape.
“Cybercriminals are now, more than ever, turning their attention to emerging markets, which they perceive to be easy and lucrative targets. A proactive and innovative approach to cybersecurity is needed.”
Data is the core of any business, and it is of utmost importance to effectively secure and protect it against cyberthreats, he emphasises.
Passive monitoring of massive amounts of data traversing client networks provides a comprehensive view of activities. The predictive threat analytics system then detects and reports suspicious behavioural patterns, as well as various anomalies, in real time.
“The power of machine learning is augmented with a trained individual’s insight. Out of this fusion of human intelligence and a machine’s processing power, companies are able to make the best possible decision for their business,” explains Naidoo.
The Snode cyberintelligence solution combines learning machines and predictive analytics to assist clients proactively managing their cybersecurity posture.
The solution is designed to enable businesses to embrace emerging technologies, and has features such as being able to be deployed rapidly as modular software, integration and forward-engineering for future systems.
The Snode system also includes in-flight analytics and deep packet inspection, as well as offline data processing at scale for forensic and trend analyses that support the predictive analytics system.
“Snode’s solution adapts as a company’s network evolves and enables it to respond to the rapidly evolving threat landscape it faces.”
Further, the small and medium-sized enterprises can afford this high-level cybersecurity, as it uses a nonobtrusive passive detection engine that is managed from Snode’s Johannesburg security office.
“Snode has consultants with extensive cybersecurity expertise and experience in its offices in Johannesburg and London. The company advises on cybersecurity matters across a range of sectors, including financial services, mining, professional services, aerospace and defence, and media, among others,” concludes Naidoo.
