JSE-listed aluminium products manufacturer Hulamin announced on Tuesday that its CEO, Richard Jacob, would take a medical leave of absence from July 18 to receive specialist medical care in South Africa and neurological surgery in the US.

Jacob is expected to return to his CEO position after a suitable period of convalescence, most likely in mid October 2014, Hulamin said in a statement.

The board has appointed CFO David Austin acting CEO during Jacob’s leave of absence.

Chairperson of the board Mafika Mkwanazi said:  “We wish Richard and his family well on his recovery and look forward to welcoming him back. David and the team enjoy the trust and confidence of the board as we continue on our growth and development path.”
