Honeywell’s highly durable Limitless™ Series reduces installation and maintenance costs, and increases productivity

RS Components za.rs-online.com (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc www.electrocomponents.com (LSE:ECM), the world’s leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, is now stocking Honeywell’s Limitless™ range of wireless sensing and control products.

The Limitless™ Series, combines Honeywell’s harsh-duty and medium-duty packaging limit switches with state-of-the-art wireless technology to create a broad product line that eliminates the need for complex wiring and connectors, which can entail expensive maintenance. The wireless devices can be retrofitted into existing systems and equipment to minimise installation time and costs, resulting in increased efficiencies for machines, equipment, OEMs, and operators in the oil and gas, surface transportation and petrochemical industries, for example. The switches are particularly suited to remote-monitoring applications where wiring or wire maintenance is not physically possible or economically feasible.

The Limitless™ portfolio utilises the global, license-free RF wireless 802.15.4 WPAN protocol that provides up to a 305m (1000 feet) line-of-sight communication range without using repeaters, depending on antenna type, and prolongs battery life with advanced power management technology. The switches can be configured to allow up to sixteen devices to communicate with one receiver module. They have the same mechanical life, temperature ratings, and sealing as standard switches with the added advantage of wireless functionality. The wireless signal is received by either a panel-mount receiver, or an industrial DIN-rail module, that converts it to an output. Outputs can be LEDs, buzzers, or electrical signals. The capability also exists to provide CAN, ProfiBus, and standard Ethernet communications. All Limitless™ products include battery and signal diagnostics as standard features.
