Heavy-fuel-oil- (HFO-) powered power station.

Location
Kayes region of Mali.

Client
Albatros Energy Mali, in which African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), through its AIIF3 fund, has acquired a 44% stake in Albatros Energy Mali.

Project Description
The project entails the construction of a 90 MW HFO-fuelled power station.

The power station will add 30% to Mali’s effective baseload electricity capacity.

It will also be the West African nation’s first independent power project to feed into the national grid.

Once operational, power will be sold to Mali’s State-owned power utility, Énergie du Mali, through a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Potential Job Creation
Between 180 and 191 local people are expected to be recruited for the construction of the plant. When operational, the plant will employ 53 staff, of whom 50 are local.

Value
The project is valued at €123.1-million.

Duration
Construction is expected to take about 16 months.
