The Western Cape’s tourism, trade and investment promotion agency Wesgro has appointed former Democratic Alliance shadow Finance Minister Tim Harris as CEO from March 1.

Harris, who was most recently the head of investment at the City of Cape Town, would succeed Nils Flaatten, who had been at the helm of Wesgro since June 2010.

“The timing of [Harris’s] appointment coincides with the development of our new five-year strategy [in line with the Western Cape government’s planning cycle] and I am fully confident that Harris is the right person to drive this new vision through the agency, Wesgro chairperson Professor Brian Figaji said.
