Precious metals miners Harmony Gold and Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) both reported fatalities on Friday.

A Harmony employee died after falling from a height, while working in the shaft bottom at the Kusasalethu mine, near Carletonville.

Meanwhile, a fall-of-ground incident claimed the life of an Amplats employee working at the Dishaba mine, in Amandelbult.
