A delighted Siyabonga Gama, the acting CEO of Transnet, boards the Blue Train following an announcement last week of a public–private partnership between the State-owned group and tourism and leisure company Sun International. A joint business plan will be developed over the coming six months, which could result in new train investments, route expansions and possibly the integration of gaming into the experience. Also on the cards is the creation of package deals that could make the hotel-on-wheels more accessible to domestic tourists.
