Name of the Project
Hail, Ghasha and Dalma sour gasfields megaproject.

Location
The project is located in the north-west offshore area of Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Client
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

Project Description
The megaproject taps into Abu Dhabi’s Upper Jurassic Formation Arab formation, which is estimated to hold multiple trillions of cubic metres of recoverable gas.

The project is expected to produce more than 28-million cubic metres of gas a day, enough to provide electricity for two-million homes.

The project could meet 20% of the UAE’s gas demand by the second half of the next decade.

The infrastructure requirements for the Hail and Ghasha gasfields include a minimum of 11 offshore artificial islands to be designed and constructed.

Latest Developments
ADNOC awarded the two front-end engineering design (FEED) contracts for the company’s planned offshore ultrasour gas megaproject in January.

Bechtel was awarded the FEED contract for the Hail and Ghasha oilfields, and TechnipFMC the FEED contract for the Dalma gasfield.

In terms of the person hours of the two FEED contracts, these are the largest awarded by an oil and gas company, underpinning the criticality of a detailed FEED phase to optimise project cost and schedule.

Awarding the FEED contracts follows the awarding of the project management consultancy and artificial islands design and survey contracts to Artelia and KBR (formerly Kellogg Brown and Root).

Key Contracts and Suppliers

Artelia and KBR (project management consultancy and artificial islands design and survey), Bechtel (FEED – Hail and Ghasha) and TechnipFMC (FEED – Dalma).

On Budget and on Time?

Not stated.
