The reputations of the South African government and the governing African National Congress took serious knocks during 2017. Allegations, and hard evidence, of State capture flowed stronger than the Orange river in flood, while the national mood was further depressed by downgrades, job losses, persistent policy uncertainty and anaemic business and investor confidence. Will 2018 be any better?
