Financial services group Nedbank – the largest occupier of green buildings in the country – has officially opened another Green Building Council of South Africa (BGCSA) 4-Star Green Star-rated building, this time, in Roodepoort.

Nedbank Lakeview, which served as the banking group’s campus in the west of Johannesburg, was the fourth occupied Nedbank building to achieve the GBCSA 4-Star Green Star rating and involved the consolidation of several buildings in the area.

The A-Grade Lakeview development now featured an auditorium, a restaurant with a view of the lake, preferential parking for “efficient” travellers and fully equipped “pause areas” on each floor where staff could refresh and engage.

Nedbank Group Property Services head Charl de Kock said the new office space represented a tangible extension of Nedbank’s vision to be a sustainability leader in South Africa.

Nedbank’s three other GBCSA Green Star-rated buildings are the Nedbank Sandton Phase II development, in Johannesburg, Nedbank Ridgeside, in Durban, and Nedbank Menlyn Maine, in Pretoria.

Nedbank will be unveiling its fifth and sixth GBCSA Green Star-rated buildings in Newtown by the end of 2015.
