Name of the Project
Greater Tortue Ahmeyim Phase 2 (GTA2) project.

Location
GTA is located 120 km offshore in a water depth of 2850 m, off the shore of Mauritania, and in the Saint-Louis Profond block, off the shore of Senegal.

Project Owner/s
A partnership comprising bp, Petrosen, Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures and Kosmos Energy.

Project Description
The GTA project was granted the status of National Project of Strategic Importance by the Presidents of Mauritania and Senegal in July 2021.

Phase 2 will evaluate a gravity-based structure (GBS) as the basis for the project, with a total capacity of between 2.5-million and three-million tonnes a year.

GBS liquefied natural gas (LNG) developments have a static connection to the seabed.

The concept design will include new wells and subsea equipment, integrating with and expanding on existing GTA infrastructure.

The partnership will consider powering LNG liquefication using electricity to help drive operational emissions lower.

Phase 1 of the GTA – currently under development – will export gas to a floating production storage and offloading facility about 40 km offshore, where the gas will be processed and liquids separated. The gas will be exported to floating LNG facilities 10 km offshore. It is expected to produce about 2.3-million tonnes of LNG a year when operations start.
