Project Description
The project entails increasing the flow of freight by removing major pinch points in Adelaide’s rail freight and road networks.
Stage 1 of the project was completed in 2014 and delivered the Goodwood rail junction and Adelaide showgrounds station projects.
The second stage Torrens rail junction project will include a new lowered railway station at Bowden, improved connections to the Bowden Urban Village, and entertainment centre, park lands, and a new shared pedestrian and cycling path.
Jobs to Be Created
Together, these project are expected to support about 212 jobs a year during construction and will be delivered in line with the state government’s Industry Participation and Steel Procurement policies.

Construction on the project is expected to start in the next few weeks, following the award of a tender to design and build the Torrens rail junction upgrade project.
The consortium, comprising Laing O’Rourke, AECOM and Kellogg, and Brown & Root won the contract to separate the interstate freight rail line from the Outer Harbour passenger line and build a rail underpass at Park Terrace.
