GOAL
GOAL: A watch displaying the word ‘goal’ as a football rolls fully behind the goal line during a demonstration ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which kicked off in Brazil last week. GoalControl, of Germany, has been appointed as the official provider of goal-line technology for the tournament. The solution uses 14 high-speed cameras that continuously captured the coordinates of the ball. The information is linked to a computer processing system, which filters out players, the referee and any other objects. The watch, which will be worn by referees, will display the word ‘goal’ and vibrate should the ball fully cross the goal line.
