The University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and information technology solutions and services provider Dimension Data have collaborated to equip business leaders with the knowledge and tools to “anticipate and harness” digital disruption to the benefit of their organisations and South Africa.

The Dimension Data Programme in Digital Disruption, funded by Dimension Data through a sponsorship endowment to GIBS, combined academic research and publications with executive education and dialogue to bring about awareness and understanding of the impact and opportunities of digital technologies on industry competitiveness, social cohesion and economic growth.

“No company can operate today without technology; yet many business leaders struggle to keep up with the phenomenal pace of technological change and the opportunities it presents,” explained GIBS programme director for digital disruption Ian James in a statement on Thursday.

The programme aimed to reach “thousands” of executives and senior managers in business and the public sector throughout – and beyond – the undetermined duration of the programme.
