“It’s pretty simple” showcasing what 65 years of manufacturing know-how looks like for Terex Trucks as the Volvo CE-owned manufacturer launches its new Generation 10 TA300 and TA400 ADTs in South Africa in the first quarter of 2017. These articulated dump trucks will be available through Babcock, the official distributor of Terex Trucks in southern Africa.

The Generation 10 TA300 and TA400 reflect Terex Trucks’ reinvigorated attitude to performance and quality, and have been designed to improve customer productivity and enhance the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the ADTs on the toughest job sites.

Terex Trucks’ ADTs are powered by fuel-efficient Scania engines, offering high uptime and increased profitability, and are well suited to deliver reliable performance and cost-efficient hauling, in all applications. The TA400 ADT is the largest of the company’s new Generation 10 articulated dump trucks that excels in large-scale construction projects, quarries and mine sites alike.

Advancements in the new 10th generation TA400 include:
• A new and improved operator environment with improved cab sealing, cab heating and ventilation;
• Improvements to the hydraulic system with the addition of magnetic suction filters to protect against environmental contamination;
• Improved durability on the sealed, force-cooled multi-disc brakes which are offered as standard on all three axles;
• A new generation transfer box allows for more powerful operating choices and the ability to tailor the machine’s performance to all working conditions by utilising adaptive shifting and 2 speed ratios (high / low);
• Allison Transmission with 5th generation automatic adaptive shifting, providing high levels of momentum and productivity;
• Improved hood design for easier maintenance access and enhanced headlamp illumination;
• Convenient access to all engine service points, making routine maintenance a one-man operation;
• For fuel compliant markets, the 10th generation Terex Trucks ADTs also offer Stage-IV (US Tier-4F) compliance, achieved without the use of a Diesel Particulate Filter.

Erik Lundberg, Business Manager for Terex Trucks in sub-Saharan Africa, says that the Generation 10 ADTs are the first new Terex Trucks products to be launched by the company since Volvo CE acquired the business in June 2014 and Babcock’s subsequent appointment as the official distributor of these powerful rigid and articulated haulers in southern Africa in October 2015.

“The GEN 10 trucks reflect the high and exacting standards associated with the Volvo name and were launched at BAUMA in April 2016, while the first units for southern Africa are due to land in the first quarter this year,” says Lundberg.

He acknowledges that the first half of 2016 in particular saw some very challenging market conditions which impacted on local sales. “However on the upside this allowed Babcock to focus on aftermarket service, parts sales and positioning the Terex Trucks brand to take full advantage of the upswing that we saw towards the end of the year,” says Lundberg.

Besides their robust and durable design, Terex Trucks are also well known for the value that their products offer to their customers with highly competitive pricing in a very competitive market.
“Babcock and Terex Trucks have invested a lot of time and effort researching parts and component pricing in order to make our offering even more competitive and help ease the financial strain on our customers,” explains Lundberg.

He adds that one of the main advantages of Terex Trucks over other products in the same category is the aftersales service that is available through Babcock. To this end the purpose-built, state-of-the-art Middelburg branch supports the Terex Trucks range and ensures immediate access to parts, availability of qualified service technicians and appropriate maintenance facilities.

One of many customised features of Babcock’s new Middelburg branch is the 1,615 m2 warehouse which can accommodate the inventory required for the Terex Trucks range alongside components for Babcock’s other product ranges, including Volvo and SDLG construction equipment, and Tadano mobile cranes. Babcock has made a considerable investment in stocking Terex Trucks parts, to ensure the highest availability possible of components required to repair and maintain the trucks, ensuring that downtime is kept to a minimum for customers.

“Terex Trucks are in the business of making a positive change and, together with Babcock in southern Africa, we have done a tremendous amount of work to ensure that our products are well placed and strongly supported in this very important market,” says Lundberg.

Terex Trucks are renowned for delivering a robust performance in the steepest, deepest mines and largest quarries around the world while simultaneously providing durability, comfort and efficiency.
