Mitsui (30%) and Gulf Energy Development Company (70%).

Project Description
Mitsui plans to build a 2 500 MW gas-fired power plant. The feedstock for the plant will come from domestic natural gas and imported liquefied natural gas.

The power plant will supply electricity under a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.

Construction of the plant will begin July 2020 and is expected to start supplying electricity in 2023.

Latest Developments
The Japan Bank for International Cooperation is providing project financing of about $208-million. The loan is cofinanced by the Asian Development Bank, Export-Import Bank of Thailand, Mizuho Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, DZ Bank, the Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation and regional banks in Thailand covering about $1.36-billion.
