Gammatec NDT Supplies specialises in manufacturing, marketing, sales and support for the non-destructive testing (NDT) industry.

Part of NTP Radioisotopes, a state-owned company and subsidiary of the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (NECSA), Gammatec is also an equity shareholder in Oserix, a leading Belgian supplier of projectors and industrial isotopes.

Headquartered in Vereeniging, South Africa, Gammatec has a customer base that spans over 70 countries, across Africa, Middle East and South-East Asia.

Gammatec is a proud distributor of the XRF & LIBS handheld analysers from SciAps.

X550 XRF analyser

The X-550 sets a new performance standard for handheld XRF spectroscopy. Weighing 1.3 kg, including battery, it’s the lightest, fastest, most articulate x-ray gun ever made. It delivers the small size, blazing speed and high precision of the SciAps X-series in a perfectly balanced device. It’s fast on all alloys, including aluminium, and uses the industry’s most powerful x-ray tube, operating up to three times the power in the beam 2 setting, compared to other handheld XRF analysers. The unique geometry and tube power optimises performance for low atomic number measurement applications including sulfidic corrosion (low Si), phosphorus and sulphur, and aluminium alloys, as well as for residuals analysis per API 751 and 5L specifications.

X-250 XRF analyser

The X-250 is designed to be the fastest scrap sorter available, measuring magnesium (Mg) and silicone (Si) up to 10 times faster than any other X-ray gun, and with better sensitivity.

Precise Mg and Si measurements are critical for highly accurate aluminium alloy testing.  The X-250 sorts 90% of aluminium alloys in two seconds, measuring Mg down to 0.25% and Si to 0.15%. The X-250  allows a wide range of aluminium alloys to be precisely sorted by x-ray, while maintaining the performance advantage of x-ray on other alloying metals like chromium, copper, zirconium, zinc and manganese.
