CDE, the industry-leading aggregates wet processing solutions company, has announced a new conference organised in collaboration with the industry association for quarrying and surface mining in South Africa (ASPASA).

The ‘Future of Sand Washing Conference’ will take place on Wednesday, July 31 at the Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre, Johannesburg.

Throughout the day, CDE experts together with Nico Pienaar, Director of ASPASA, will facilitate a series of dynamic and informative presentations showcasing the emergence of new aggregates wet processing technologies for the South African market.

These innovative technologies include CDE’s new and improved Combo™ - the all-in-one wet processing and water recycling system - which supports quarry operators to extract maximum value from their natural resources while simultaneously reducing their operating costs.

The conference content will investigate the advantages of using these new technologies against more traditional bucket wheel or sand screw systems. The benefits of cyclone technology to increase materials output and minimise the loss of high-quality valuable product to ponds will also be discussed.

Interactive Q&As will conclude each morning and afternoon session providing attendees with the opportunity to discuss the site-specific challenges they face and learn more from CDE’s industry experts about how new wet materials processing systems can address these challenges and future-proof their operations.

Paul Holroyd, Head of Primo (Sand & Aggregates) at CDE, said: “Sand and aggregates producers all care about maximising their output, improving the quality of the products they make for their own valued customers by ensuring they are in-spec every time, while always trying to reduce their operating costs, for example, by improving energy efficiency or reducing their water consumption.

“With the backing of ASPASA, this conference has been specifically programmed to address these issues by introducing quarry operators to wet processing solutions that will support them in scaling their operations and delivering more rapid return on investment.  Our South African finance partners will be on hand to discuss our innovative finance options that reduce the CapEx burden and enable our customers to adopt these solutions using easy monthly payment plans.”

Mr Pienaar will facilitate sessions outlining the role ASPASA plays in small surface mining in South Africa, as well as a briefing session looking at recent legislative and regulatory developments in the region.

He explained why ASPASA is delighted to endorse this unique conference led by CDE.

“Having new innovations in South Africa is so important,” he said “and, therefore, we would like to thank leading materials washing company CDE for taking the lead on programming this extremely informative conference which is sure to be a great success.”

The following day, CDE will facilitate a press visit to a customer site organised in partnership with South African construction materials producer Ground Breakers to showcase its new Combo™ all-in-one wet processing and water recycling system, which was recently commissioned at the company’s Lindley quarry near Johannesburg.

Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa at the UK Department for International Trade, Emma Wade-Smith, OBE, will also attend the site visit and is encouraged by the positive developments being made in the region by the UK-based manufacturer.

“CDE is a global leader  in innovation and manufacturing excellence in the materials wet processing sector. CDE’s world-class engineering expertise creates market-leading solutions which they deliver throughout a growing number of international markets they operate in, and especially across the African continent.

“I’m looking forward to joining the CDE and Ground Breakers teams on the visit to see the new and innovative technologies being introduced to the African market first hand, and to hearing how they will support producers in the region to grow demand for their products with existing and new customers.”
