© Reuse this Franke Kitchen Systems is involved in the manufacture, marketing and sales of kitchen systems, hospital and domestic sanitary products, mainly from stainless steel. Products include kitchen sinks, taps, sink accessories, hydroboils, chillers, WC pans, shower trays , squat pans, and hospital and mortuary equipment.

Established in 1914, the Swiss-owned company is based in Mobeni, Durban, in an 11 000 m2 factory on an 18 000 m2 site. Some 280 people are employed at the facility. With a turnover of R150-million to R200-million, the company last recorded an order book of R15-million. Fixed assets valued at R50-million include hydraulic deep-drawing presses, laser cutters, CNC bending and grinding and equipment.

Last year saw the company make a significant investment in its press shop on the sink-cleaning line and on its ‘Zip’ assembly line. A second press was bought to establish a complete and dedicated double-bowl monobloc sink line.

Raw materials employed in the manufacturing process include mainly stainless steel, protective films, and grinding and polishing consumables.
