Former Mozambique c.bank governor joins Tongaat board

Sugar producer Tongaat Hulett has appointed Adriano Maleiane as an independent nonexecutive director, with effect from November 23.

The former Mozambique Central Bank Governor was currently CEO and majority shareholder in financial consultancy firm MaleFinanceiro, in Mozambique, as well as of insurance brokerage MaleSeguros.

He has held a number of positions in the banking sector, where he has more than 33 years experience.

Maleiane has also worked as Mozambique's Ministry of Agriculture's National director for Agrarian Economy, where he was tasked with coordinating the implementation of agrarian policy.

He holds a Masters in Science degree in Financial Economics from the University of London, a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, in Mozambique, and a Diploma in Accounting from the Instituto Comercial de Maputo- Mozambique.
