Fire Control Systems
Johannesburg-headquartered Fire Control Systems designs, supplies, fabricates, installs and maintains turnkey fire protection and detection solutions used in the commercial, industrial and mining sectors.
The solutions include sprinkler systems; deluge systems; high- and medium-velocity water spray systems; high-, medium- and low-expansion foam protection systems; gas suppression systems; smoke, heat and thermal detection systems; vehicle suppression systems; hand fire appliances; and ventilation systems.
The 400-employee company is also a wholesaler of components such as sprinklers, valves, nozzles, hydrants, hose reels, extinguishers, foam trolleys, foam tanks, flexible droppers and grooved products. It has been the exclusive agent in South Africa for Tyco Fire’s water-based products since 2005.
Besides its head office in Bryanston, north of the Johannesburg central business district, it has service, maintenance and fabrication facilities in Kempton Park, on Gauteng’s East Rand. Fire Control Systems also has manufacturing workshops and distribution facilities in Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. It also has a presence in Maputo, Mozambique, and Gaborone, Botswana.
The company, which is TÜV-certified for the ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 standards, is currently working on a R37-million project on the Kusile power station and, in partnership with DRA, is completing a R45-million fire protection contract on the Kibali gold mine project, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Other recently completed contracts entailed work on the new Standard Bank office in Rosebank and the DB Schenker warehouse, as well as for Shoprite Checkers, Illovo and Ellerines, all in KwaZulu-Natal, where it was recently awarded an R8-million contract for First National Bank’s Umhlanga regional offices.
