FibreCo Telecommunications  (0.03 MB)

FibreCo Telecommunications today announced the appointment of Sammy Thamsanqa Mafu as its Business Development Executive.  This strategic and pivotal role will help drive the growth of the company, driving new business initiatives as well as aligning FibreCo’s growth strategy with the Government’s national policy framework on universal connectivity across all provinces.

Mafu joins FibreCo from Broadband Infraco where he was responsible for driving revenue expansion and customer acquisition as Chief Marketing & Sales Officer.

Mafu has over 21 years of telecommunications experience in sales, marketing, product development, strategy and commercial deal structuring working as a founder staff member at Cell C. Previous positions held were at JDA, Telkom, MTN and Siemens.

Mafu holds a BA & Postgrad in Management from the University of Cape Town; MBA from Hull in the UK and is assigned the Chartered Marketer designation by Wits University and the Marketing Association of South Africa.

“Mafu is well positioned to drive FibreCo’s business development strategy.  He brings a wealth of experience that will help position FibreCo’s open access broadband connectivity solutions to Education and Health clusters as well as underserviced communities. FibreCo has already shown that connected communities enjoy improved services from Government through its connectivity initiatives. Mafu will be working closely with Government to expand this initiative across the FibreCo national footprint” says Simon Harvey, FibreCo CEO.

FibreCo’s network consists of over 4,000km of underground fibre routes as well as carrier-grade hosting facilities interconnecting over 50 sites nation-wide, including connectivity to major data centres in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Durban, Port Elizabeth, East London as well as the cable landing stations of WACS, SAT3, Seacom, SAFE and EASSy.

FibreCo provides open access bespoke connectivity solutions ranging from dark fibre to high capacity managed networking solutions allowing its enterprise, government and carrier clients to realise the low cost and technical benefits of the massive scalability inherent in high-quality, ultra-fast fibre-optic networks.
