Companies are increasingly partnering with professional service providers to meet their transport and logistics requirements, says transport, warehousing, distribution and logistics solutions company Value Logistics.
The JSE-listed group employs advanced technology and systems to ensure it fulfils customers’ demands for products to be available quickly. Value Logistics provides transport and logistics services across Southern Africa with a fleet of more than 4 600 vehicles.
The group has over 200 000 m2 of secure warehousing facilities at major centres throughout South Africa, making it possible for clients to haul goods to regional depots and safely maintain stockholdings while shortening their distribution times.
Customers that operate across borders can make use of the company’s clearing and forwarding division, which is geared for fast and efficient import and export operations.
Other offerings include truck rental services, refrigerated vehicle rental, chemical distribution and warehousing, abnormal loads, tipper trucks, forklift sales and rentals, closed-circuit distribution and general freight delivery services, as well as specialist vehicles for the film industry, local and international express freight delivery.
“Everything we do is centred on the customer and for that reason we put a lot of care and attention into delivering global best- practice service,” says Value Logistics founder and CEO Steven Gottschalk.
“By adopting global standards, we are able to attract business locally and abroad and, as a result, can offer customers the same standards irrespective of the size or nature of their operation.
“We also employ modern technology to assist us in providing fast, secure and reli- able operations. Products like our routing and scheduling software tools enable us to work more efficiently. We also use advanced systems to track and trace vehicles. This enables customers to view consignment progress online or through our call centre and communications hub,” he explains.
The technology also enables the company to undertake sophisticated reverse logistics operations for customers who need to manage returns from retail stores.
